#8. The Walking Dead: Just Fiction

Hello, welcome back to my blog! Today I wanted to take a break from reality and splatter about one of my favorite shows: The Walking Dead. Most people know about of it, perhaps you've watched it, either way I hope you find the concept interesting. Who doesn't love fantasying about the world ending, and wandering around the world beating up zombies? If you said, "not me", then you probably realize you'd be one of the billions of people that die within the first month of the outbreak. It takes a truly determined and lucky person to survive a zombie apocalypse. In case of a real world meltdown though, would it be possible for someone to survive? Just how realistic is The Walking Dead?

Well, not at all! I'd like to point out a couple instances where the show should have ended. Where the only reason the characters survive is because the writers need the show to keep going.

8x16: Bullets shoot backwards?

In the season finale, Rick (the main character) and his group get surrounded by enemies. Severely outnumbered and outgunned, Rick's group is surely to die. 3, 2, 1, Shots fire!

But Rick and his group are perfectly fine. As it turns out the enemy group's engineer, Rick's ex friend, never betrayed Rick. He made all the bullets so that they would fire backwards and most of the enemy (who for some reason all fired at the same time) died or surrendered shortly after. Not only is it unrealistic for a mole to go unnoticed, or for a person to know how to make bullets shoot backwards make it this far in the apocalypse, but the fact that nobody stopped shooting after seeing everybody else shoot themselves is surprising.

9x04: Seriously, How

Just four episodes and a time skip later, Rick and his group are rebuilding a society when a huge hoard of zombie begin heading their way. It's up to Rick to blow up the bridge and save his people but oh no! Rick's horse sends up flying him onto a piece of rebar, impaling him. Does it all end here for Rick and his people?

Of course not! Rick grabs onto a bar that appears above him and pulls himself off the metal stick. What a guy! Not only that but he manages to walk away, get back on his horse, and blow up the bridge. It doesn't end there though. Rick seemingly died in the explosion his body is never found. Has Rick survived the explosion, and the fall, all while already severely injured!

Of course he has! Rick shows up in the last episode alive.  Is there a spinoff coming? Probably.

As you can see it's probably best not to hope for a zombie apocalypse. Not only will you not have thick plot armor like Rick's, but the pain you would endure mentally and physically would probably drive you insane before a zombie kills you. Anyways, hope that gives you something to think about, see you in my next blog!
